The Cape Parrot Working Group (CPWG) was formed in 2001 following the PhD research of the late Olaf Wirminghaus (Wirminghaus 2002) at the University of Natal (now University of KwaZulu-Natal).

The CPWG is a formal body made up of a wide range of interested stakeholders, concerned with the conservation of this species, and representing the diverse range of interests which include not only the wild population and its habitat but also the captive population for which a studbook is being developed.  The CPWG is also overseen by an executive committee representing the stakeholders.

Stakeholders include:
The work of the CPWG is co-ordinated by the CPWG Coordinator (position currently vacant), this role includes coordinating and facilitating communication between the relevant parties, assisting and encourage members to implement the aims of the CPWG and most importantly to increase public awareness and education of the public and communities close to Cape Parrot habitats in the plight of the Cape Parrot.

The following photos were taken by Louise Warburton as part of her activities as CPWG co-ordinator
